Martha Lu Dees

Carbondale – Martha Lu Dees, 87, of Carbondale passed away at 3:35 a.m. on Friday, December 7, 2018, at Manor Court of Carbondale.



Martha was born on September 18, 1931 to Roy B. and Sarah Leona (Horstman) Parks in Murphysboro. She married Robert Lenyial Dees in 1952. He preceded her in death on May 20, 2017.



She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David A. and Rosalinda Dees of Ste. Genevieve, MO and Philip K. and Gemma Daga Dees of Terre Haute, IN; grandchildren, Shawn R. Dees and friend Bailey Otto of Festus, MO, Suzanne L. Dees of Ste. Genevieve, MO; great-granddaughter, Sway I. Cooper of Ste. Genevieve, MO; several nieces and nephews including Becky Grossi of California and Brian Dees of Coello; and Max Pedro-Dees her grand puppy!



Martha was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three brothers, Harry Roy Parks, H.G. Parks and Dale Parks.



Martha was a caregiver at the former Styrest Nursing Home in the children’s area for many years. She was a member of the neighborhood women’s club. Martha attended Boskydell Baptist Church.



Funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Meredith Funeral Home, Carbondale with Dr. K. Stephen Combs officiating. Interment will be at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Murphysboro. Friends are invited to attend the visitation at Meredith Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 11, 2018.



Memorials may be made to Boskydell Baptist Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
