CARBONDALE – Maurice Edward Blaise, 78, of Carbondale passed away on Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.
Maurice was born on September 26, 1941 in Ava to Rev. Louis and Nova (Dillon) Blaise. He married Mary Eileen McCrellis on February 22, 1964 at Carbondale.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Eileen Blaise; son James Blaise and wife Kimberly; two grandsons, Matthew and wife Dr. Brittany Blaise and David Blaise and wife Christian; and his dog, Buddy 2.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold Blaise; and sisters, Mary Lane and Sue Pappas.
Maurice served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for the City of Carbondale for 31 years as Assistant Street Superintendent until his retirement in 1999. Maurice was a man of great Baptist Faith. He loved spending time with his family and tinkering with his woodshop.
Funeral services will be at 1:30PM on Monday, August 10, 2020 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Pastor Ralph Brandon officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale with Military Rites. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM on Sunday, August 9, at the funeral home. Due to the COVID-19 Virus, masks and social distancing are required.
Memorials may be to St. Francis Shelter in Murphysboro. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
