Nancy Barron Brown of Makanda, Illinois passed away July 26, 2023 with husband and family at her side.
She was in a coma as a result of head injury, but came out of it to say goodbye to her husband and family, after husband prayed specifically for this chance to say goodbye.
Nancy was born November 15, 1954, in Jonesboro, GA. She was a graduate of Jonesboro Senior High School, class of 1972. She attended University of Georgia and obtained a B.A. in English and French. She worked as a librarian after graduation, then becoming a medical transcriptionist till retirement at age 62. She was a member of the Jonesboro United Methodist Church, and married Dr Terry Brown there in 1979.
She is survived by her husband Dr Terry M Brown, and her sister Diane (Scott) Allen of Newnan GA., and Sister-in-law Tracy (Darin) Sims of Anniston, AL, niece Kathryn (Jeremy) Allen, nephews Benjamin(Meredith) Allen, Justin (Emily) Sims & Garrett (Kaitlyn) Sims, 5 great nephews and 1 great niece, in addition to other friends and family.
Her mother and stepfather, Barbara Pittman Pirkle and Joseph Pirkle, preceded her in death as well as her beloved grandparents, Clyde and Martha Pittman of Jonesboro GA.
She will have a graveside service at the city cemetery in Jonesboro GA. The Donehoo-Lewis funeral home of Hapeville, GA is making arrangements for graveside service on August 4, 2023, at 12:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a local Humane Society in her memory would please her.
She will be greatly missed.
