Orene Faye Williams

CARBONDALE – Orene “Nana” Faye Williams, 69, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at her home.



Orene was born on January 26, 1952 to Preston and Flossie (Gilmore) Grady in Hope, Arkansas.



Nana is survived by her sons, Kenny Mays of Chicago and Orlan Mays of Carbondale; her siblings, Henry Grady and Twinet of Washington D.C, and Wilma of Chicago; and grandchildren, Kamaria, Solo, Maat, Adah, Kendall, Quintin, Kurtis, Mary, Keanna, Aden, and Ethan.



She was preceded in death by her mother, Flossie Grady; daughter, Kathryn Mays; brother, Owen; and sister, Fannie.



Nana loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She helped to care for all of her grandchildren when they were younger. Nana also loved flowers. Orene was a dedicated employee of the U.S. Post Office for more than 20 years until her retirement in 2005.
