GRAND TOWER – Pastor Peggy M. Camp, a beloved minister and compassionate soul, passed away peacefully at her home in Grand Tower, Illinois, on September 3, 2025, at the age of 74. Born on July 13, 1951 to Frankie and Irene (Hartline) Nimmo, Pastor Peggy dedicated her life to spreading love and kindness, touching the hearts of all who knew her. She married Larry Camp on May 1, 1968 and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2012. 

Pastor Peggy found her purpose in serving others, leading her community with unwavering faith and compassion. She was assistant pastor and pastor of Lighthouse Christian Assembly in Grand Tower since 1988. Her ability to connect with people from all walks of life made her a cherished figure in the religious community where she ministered to many other churches all over Illinois with her preaching and singing. Pastor Peggy was known for her open arms and heart, ensuring that everyone felt welcomed and valued. 

Pastor Peggy is survived by her loving son, Joel Camp; grandchildren, Cody, Dusty, Nikki, Jonathon, Brandon, Austin, and Jessie; great-granddaughter Riley, Alivia and Bailey; sister, Patti Nimmo; and her brothers, Mike (Sharon), Scott (Kim), and Kenny (Stacey) Nimmo. She also leaves behind her daughter-in-law, Danna Camp, son-in-law, Brad Hokkanen and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Each of them carries forward her legacy of love, kindness, and service to others. 

Funeral services for Pastor Peggy will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, September 9, 2025 at the Lighthouse Christian Assembly in Grand Tower with Pastor Richie Pyatt and other pastors officiating. Burial will follow in Walker Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Pastor Peggy's extraordinary life and the profound impact she had on all those who were fortunate enough to know her.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Meredith Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses.

Pastor Peggy will be deeply missed but will forever remain in the hearts of her family, friends, and the countless lives she touched throughout her ministry. May her spirit continue to inspire love and kindness in the world. 

Pastor Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Larry Camp; parents, Frankie and Irene Nimmo; daughter, Kelly Hokkanen; son, Philip Camp; and niece, Jamie Sord.
