CARBONDALE - Randy Grant, 83, passed away on Friday, May, 2, 2025 at Manor Court of Carbondale.

Randy was born on September 14, 1941 in Donalsonville, Georgia to Elbert and Inice (Starling) Grant. He married Jean Olson on October 25, 1963 in Pensacola, Florida.

Randy served his country in the US Marine Corps from July of 1959 until July of 1963. After his service, he began his career as a pilot for a variety of airlines including Air Illinois based in Carbondale. He retired as a Captain serving United Airlines. In his free time, Randy was dedicated to maintaining his lawn. He was a loving husband and father, and will be deeply missed.

Randy is survived by his wife, children Scott (Ann) Grant of College Station, Texas and Taron (Erica) Grant of Black River Falls, Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren, and sister Barbara (Lex) Chance of Tallahassee, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral Services for Randy will be held at 12:00pm on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in DeSoto with Pastor Paul Copeland officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday from 11:00am until the time of service at the church. A private inurnment will take place at Mound City National Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in DeSoto or the Carbondale Elks Lodge #1243. Envelopes will be available at the service.
