Raymond Barone

MAKANDA - It is with gratitude for a life richly lived that we announce the passing of Raymond “Ray” Barone, age 76, of Makanda, Illinois, who died at 2:00pm on December 31, 2025 surrounded by some of his close friends.

A Celebration of Raymond’s Life will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 2:00pm at the Church of the Good Shepherd UCC in Carbondale. Coffee, doughnuts and conversation will follow the service. For those who cannot attend the service it will be live streamed and a Zoom link will be provided soon.

On Wednesday, February 18, 2026 at 2:00pm, Raymond Barone and his husband and lifelong love, Edd Little will be inurned at the Midland Hills Country Club cemetery.

In honor of Raymond’s Buddhist path, we invite people to remember him fondly, to share a kind act with another or round up for a charity when given the opportunity, particularly around 2:00pm these first seven weeks of the new year.

Memorials may be made to Midland Hills Country Club, Church Of The Good Shepherd open and affirming (ONA) ministries, or St. Francis Animal Shelter.
