Richard Lee "Butch" Mansfield

MURPHYSBORO – Richard Lee “Butch” Mansfield, 65, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018, at home with his family by his side.



Butch was born November 29, 1952 to Harold and Dorothy (Shackleton) Mansfield in Carbondale. He married Marilyn Annette (Breeden) Shelton on July 15, 2006 at Paducah, Kentucky.



He is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn; sons, Richard (Dusty) Mansfield and Harold (Jennifer) Mansfield both of Dowell; step-son, Chris Shelton of DeSoto; step-daughter, Mary Jane Shelton Trexler of Anna; three grandchildren, Emma, Triston and Timbra Mansfield of Dowell; five step-grandchildren, Gaige Shelton, Karah Shelton, and Kallie Heavrin all of DeSoto, Tasha Thompson of Salem and Tory Samples of Anna; two step-great-great grandchildren, Raegan Lynn Samples and Harper Thompson; sister, Susie Yow of Dowell; and niece, Lisa (Dan) Yow Williams of Largo, Florida.



He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold “Smokey” Mansfield; and nephew, John Stacey Yow.



Butch worked as the maintenance foreman for the Southern Illinois Airport in Murphysboro for 12 years until his retirement in 2015. He was a member of the DeSoto Masonic Lodge# 287. Butch loved spending time outdoors, especially hunting.



Per Butch’s wishes there will be no services.



Memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of Southern Illinois, 204 Halfway Road; Marion, IL 62959.
