CAMBRIA – G. Robert Patrick, age 63, passed away on Friday, January 2, 2026 at his home.
Robert was born on February 20, 1962 in Carbondale to George and Wanda (Treece) Patrick.
A dedicated educator, Robert earned a Master’s Degree and devoted his career to teaching fourth grade. His passion for education inspired countless young minds, and his commitment to nurturing future generations will be remembered fondly by students and colleagues alike. Beyond the classroom, Robert’s warmth and kindness extended to his interactions with family and special friends, making him a cherished figure within his community. Robert enjoyed antiquing and also had an immense library and music collection.
Robert had a profound love for animals and cherished the simple joys of life spent outdoors. He had a natural ability for cooking and enjoyed serving delicious meals to his family and special friends. He found immense happiness in fishing and engaging in yard work, activities that allowed him to connect with nature and appreciate the beauty of people in his surroundings. The fall season brought Robert particular joy, as Halloween was his favorite time of year, marked by his enthusiasm for the festivities associated with it.
Robert is survived by his sister, Lucy (Ed) Wigart; nephew, Ed S. Wigart; niece, Kelly R. Gresham; great niece, Hannah Gresham; great nephews, Levi Gresham, Treece Wigart and Isaac Wigart.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Kasprzak and brother, Butch Kasprzak.
Funeral services for Robert will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 12, 2026 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with Father Robert Flannery and Pastor Zach Cox officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be from 9:30am until the time service on Monday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Robert’s name to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or St. Francis CARE Animal Shelter in Murphysboro and will be accepted at the funeral home.
Robert Patrick will be profoundly missed but will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
