Rolland Eugene Bridges IV

COBDEN - Rolland Eugene "R.E." Bridges IV, 68, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

R.E. was born on Saturday, October 5, 1957 to Rolland Eugene Bridges III and Sharon Sophia Matheny in San Jose, CA. He married Sandra Rae Nance on April 25, 1988 in Paducah, KY.

R.E. is survived by his wife, Sandra Bridges; daughter, Cassandra (Justin) Doiel; sons, Rolland Eugene (Savannah) Bridges V, and Roscoe James (Kendra) Bridges; grandchildren, Clifton Doiel, Lylian Doiel, John Doiel, Lucas Doiel, Raegan Bridges, Kolten Bridges, Eva Bridges, and Beau Bridges, who is on the way; sister, Bonnie Ruby; cousin Richard Jorgenson; and father, Rolland Eugene (Debbie) Bridges III.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon (Eldon) Gosnell, grandparents Rolland Eugene (Edna) Bridges II and James (Bonnie) Matheny, and uncle Keith Matheny.

R.E. was always well known for his cooking. He cooked for over 50 years serving Southern Illinois. He loved spending time with his family and friends.

Funeral Service will be at 12:00 pm on Thursday, July 2, 2026 at Makanda Baptist Church with Tom Harrison officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Makanda. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10:00 am until the time of service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Residential Hospice or Evergreen Cemetery and will be accepted at the church.
