CARBONDALE - Rose Mary Nadaf, 92, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2023 at her home in Carbondale surrounded by her loving family.
Rose Mary was born on February 18, 1931 in Anderson, IN to Victor and Mildred (Dunlevy) Heritage.
Rose Mary worked as secretary for 27 years at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She enjoyed her grandsons. They were her pride and joy! Every wrestling tournament, rodeo, ballgame, and horse ride she was there to see her “boys”. She dearly loved them.
She also loved her great-grandchildren. She would light up every time she saw them.
Walloon Lake in Petoskey, Michigan was her happy place. She loved going to the lake and spending time with her dear friends, Marty and Jean. They were the 3 Musketeers, Andrew Sisters!
Rose Mary also enjoyed volunteering at the Carbondale Public Library after her retirement. She loved to read.
Rose Mary was in many lunch groups and enjoyed everyone from new friends from the last few years to friends from 60 years ago. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. And you cannot forget Apollo, our dog. She loved him very much.
Rose Mary wore many hats. She was Mom to my brother and I. Meme to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and any other child she came in contact with. Mama Rosie was another name she answered to and loved.
Rose Mary is survived by her daughter, Susan (Marty McDonald) Adams; grandchildren, Jesse (Beatrice) Adams, Christopher (Savanna Jewett) Adams, Andrew (Cassondra) Adams; great-grandchildren, Sophie Spurlock, Rielynn Adams and Lincoln Adams; and many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Helen Hathoot, Selma Azar and Anna Marie Zaknoen.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, John Nadaf; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; Martha (Marty) Lowrance and Jean Dewyer, and many other friends.
Funeral Mass for Rose Mary will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, August 7, 2023 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church with Father Carl Scherrer and Father Robert Flannery officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Carbondale. Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11:00 am on Monday at the church.
Memorials may be made in Rose’s name to St. Joseph’s Indian School. Envelopes will be available at the church and funeral home.
