MURPHYSBORO - Sharon Lynne Keehn, age 73, passed away on Thursday, May 28th, 2026, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Lynne was born on June 15, 1952, in Pocahontas, Arkansas to Henry Herbert and Nobia Helen (Sisson) Youngblood. She married Leroy Keehn on September 14th, 1974, in Carbondale, Illinois.
Lynne moved nearly every year growing up. The constant moving and starting over gave her a strong desire for a home in one place. Lynne and Roy married, started a family, and moved into a little white farm house in Murphysboro. Lynne always said she had a dream of the house before she ever saw it. It was what she always wanted growing up-a permanent home. Lynne filled that old farmhouse with kids, crafts, plants, and love. It was her greatest and most precious achievement. It was more than just a house. Everyone was welcomed and could count on a fresh pitcher of sweet tea and good conversations. It seemed to grow when it needed to for visiting friends and family from out of town. Somehow there was always room. Lynne made that happen. She raised and educated all six of her kids in the little house. The yard is filled with plants, flowers, and trees that were gifted from friends and family over the years. She loved to walk people around the yard to show them the latest bloom or growth. It was a magical place to spend time in every season.
When Lynne knew that cancer would claim her, she set up her home to spend her last days looking out over her "green valley." Her little farmhouse was her final earthly sanctuary. The roots she had planted of faith, hope, and love, blossomed beautifully, and gave her much joy and comfort.
Lynne is survived by her loving husband Roy; children Patricia Henry (Sean) of Carbondale, Illinois; John Keehn (Jocelyn) of Carbondale, Illinois; Robert Keehn (Branda) of Frontenac, Minnesota; Elizabeth Bost (Steven) of Murphysboro, Illinois; Caroline McElya (Michael) of Murphysboro, Illinois; Laura Baxter (Cody) of Carbondale, Illinois; and many precious grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Mardi Meadows and brother Hank Youngblood.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Charlotte Ann Cobb.
A time of visitation for family and friends to come together will be held on Saturday, May 30, 2026 from 2:00pm until 5:00pm at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale. Burial will be private in Alto Pass Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in Lynne's name to Hospice of Southern Illinois, The Restore Network, and Trinity Christian School of Carbondale and will be accepted at the funeral home.
