Sharon Lipe

September 30, 1956 — June 27, 2025

Sharon Sue (Glover) Lipe, 68 was a loving wife, devoted mother, generous grandmother, loyal friend, skilled colleague, and a lovely soul.

Sharon was born September 30, 1956 in Carbondale, Illinois to Jim and Betty (Sutton) Glover. She married Roger Lipe in 1975, and they enjoyed fifty years and seven days of marriage.

Sharon passed peacefully from this life in her home on Friday, June 27, 2025 after a five-month-long battle with cancer and its complications.

Sharon was mother to Jason (Jenn) Lipe and grandmother to Addie and Elise Lipe of Jackson, Missouri.

Sharon is survived by her husband, son, and her siblings, Lynn (Iris) Glover of Carterville, Illinois, and Patty Lyde of Pueblo, Colorado. Also surviving are numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.

Sharon's working life included several years at First National Bank and Trust in Carbondale and then twenty-four years at SIU in Carbondale. Nineteen of those years at SIU were invested in dozens of coaches, hundreds of players, and numerous student workers of Saluki Football. She was an invaluable member of the staff and a surrogate mother to over one hundred young men per season.

Sharon's kindness, generosity, wit, and hospitality won her countless friends and the admiration of people all across the nation who affectionately called her "Ms Sharon."

Sharon's body will be interred at Lipe Cemetery in Makanda after a private, family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Coach Kill Cancer Fund (https://www.sih.net/giving-back/sih-foundation/give-now please type Coach Kill Fund in the comments section) or the Lipe Cemetery Association (Lipe Cemetery Association in care of Roger Lipe - 3132 Milan Court Jackson, MO 63755).
