MURPHYSBORO - Terry Mick, 75, beloved husband, son, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and uncle, was called to his eternal resting place on Friday, January 9, 2026.

Terry was born on June 23, 1950, in Hammond, Indiana, to James and Nina Mick. From an early age, he developed a deep appreciation for history, service, and the bonds of family-values that guided him throughout his life.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1970 to 1974, including service during the Vietnam War. Terry continued his dedication to service as a member of the Illinois National Guard, 47th Division, from 1986 to 1993. In recognition of his service and commitment to fellow veterans, he was also a proud member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the American Legion.

Terry had a lifelong love for classic Harley-Davidson motorcycles and found great joy in riding whenever he could. He was a NASCAR enthusiast, an avid reader, a history buff, and a knowledgeable gun enthusiast. He also enjoyed participating in Western reenactments, combining his love with history camaraderie and storytelling. He was also a proud member of the Blue Knights, where he shared fellowship with fellow riders who became lifelong friends. Above all else, Terry cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, who brought him immense joy and pride.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Nina Mick; his father, James Mick Jr.; his brother, Jim S. Mick; his nephew Jeremiah Mick; and his niece Faith Mick.

He is survived by his loving spouse, Tracie Mick; his children, James Mick and wife Jessel Ann, Cassandra Nanney and husband Scott, and Jenny Mick; Terry was a devoted grandfather to Tristian Mick, Terry Mick, Tracie Mick, Zephaniah Ysabelle Mick, Zack Naven Jekov Mick, Calli Nanney, Emma Ford, Katelynn Nanney, and Hunter Mick. He is also lovingly remembered by his niece Crystal Mick, niece Jamie Crecelius, nephew Zachariah Mick, and nephew James D. Mick.

Terry will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and quiet wisdom, as well as for the love he gave so freely to those around him. His legacy of service, family devotion, and passion for life will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A time of visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday, January 17, 2026 at Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale with an honor guard vigil provided by Carbondale Police and Fire Departments. Immediately following the visitation, a graveside service will be held at Macedonia Cemetery in Mitchellsville with full military honors.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project and will be accepted at the funeral home.
