Thomas Marshall Barrett, 71, of Deer Park, Texas passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, August 8, 2026.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents, W. Troy and Jeanie Barrett, and his brother, Donald Troy Barrett of Carbondale, Illinois. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Barr, her husband Jerry Barr from Pasadena, Texas and his sister-in-law Anne Lougeay Barrett of Carbondale, former wife Velda Barrett along with numerous beloved cousins, nephews and nieces.
Tom had a lifelong love of golf and was fortunate to turn that passion into a career. Over the years he managed numerous golf courses across the country, building a life around a game he truly enjoyed.
He also had a need for speed! Tom loved his Corvette and enjoyed racing, driving fast, and the excitement that came with being behind the wheel.
Later in life, he developed an interest in shooting at the gun range and took great pleasure in participating in shooting competitions.
Tom was a proud Republican and a devoted supporter of President Donald Trump. He was never shy about his political views and enjoyed talking about things he believed in.
Tom lived a life on his own terms and pursed the things he loved. He will be remembered for his independent spirit, his passions, and the many memories he created with family and friends.
He will be laid to rest in Carbondale at Oakland Cemetery, beside his beloved parents. The graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 22 at 11:00 AM.
Meredith Funeral Home in Carbondale assisted the family with local arrangements.
