Wanda 'Treece' Ennis

Wanda Ruth Ennis, 85, of Cambria, passed away at 1:50 p.m. at her home Thursday, May 10, 2012, surrounded by her loving family. Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday , May 15, at Meredith Funeral Home,Carbondale, with the Rev. Robert Chitwood officiating. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Makanda. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials to Evergreen Cemetery Maintenance Fund are the preferred form of remembrance and will be accepted at the funeral home. Wanda was born August 4, 1926 in Makanda, daughter of the late Chester and Estella (Clutts) Treece. Wanda never met a stranger. She will always be remembered for her wit and special way of telling stories. Everyone loved to hear about her stories of growing up in Makanda and about the thriving town it once was. She was proud that her father helped build Giant City Lodge and her brother Bud helped build Bald Knob Cross. She loved her dog Buttons whom she spoiled rotten. Wanda loved to take her rides every Sunday traveling many backcountry roads enjoying the beauty of Southern Illinois with her son. Sunday was always considered "Mother's Day," to her. She is survived by her son, Robert Patrick of Cambria, two daughters, Lucy Wigart and husband, Ed Wigart of Powder Springs, GA., and Carolyn Ennis of Hurst, Six grandchildren, Eddie, Lonnie, Angela, Kelly, Rachel, and Shannon, eleven great grandchildren, five nephews, Jim, Bob, Darrell, Bill, Wendell, and nieces, Stella, Lynn, and Alice, (affectionately called "Nitwit".) She was preceded in death by her parents, sons Butch Kasprzak, Gary Kasprzak, two brothers Ralph, and Pete "Bud" Treece; five sisters, Charlene Logan, Irene Flener, Marjorie Rude, Aleein Rude, Mary Wagster, three nephews Corky, Junior, Terry, and niece Barbara: her beloved and dearly missed dog, Bobo. Her blue eyes twinkle no more Her voice is stilled, But her laughter and memories Live forever in the hearts and minds of those she touched.
